AS Level Maths Mechanics Exam Prep

AS Level Mechanics exam preparation course is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the key concepts and principles within the subject area.

About the course

The AS Level Mechanics exam preparation course has been developed to solidify a student's understanding of mechanical concepts and calculations.

Each student will be able to access the entire recorded live lesson library to review and better understand mechanical concepts.

They will also be able to practise their skills and apply their knowledge by completing a weekly assignment. Each assignment has been created to reflect questions asked in past papers so that students may know what to expect in the AS Level Mechanics exam.

Teachers will mark each assignment and provide personalised feedback to each student. This feedback will clarify certain calculations and concepts that the students may be struggling with.

The Q&A session will consist of a teacher providing more information on each topic by working through the assessment and explaining how they would approach and answer each question.

Some of the complex AS Level Mechanics topics covered in the course

  • General Motion in a Straight Line: learn about general motion in a straight line and its relation to displacement, acceleration, area, distance, scalar, and velocity. Further delve into concepts such as how to problem solve the motion of a moving object by making use of integration, problem solve by using differentiation and equations of motion, and calculate distance using area.
  • Equilibrium of Forces: understand forces in equilibrium, special angles, components, vectors, and Newton. Further delve into how to calculate forces in equilibrium.
  • Vectors: refine your understanding of vectors, including what vectors are, their components, expressing the direction of vectors, and resolving vectors.
  • Newton’s Laws: learn and understand Newton’s First and Second Laws of Motion and how these laws are applied within mechanical calculations.

After completing this five-week course, Mechanics students should feel confident and secure in their understanding of this subject and be ready to write the AS Level Mechanics exam.

How the course works

Throughout the course, students will be provided with past exam papers designed to practice and reinforce the concepts covered in the Cambridge AS Level Mechanics exams. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive individualised feedback from the teacher during the online lessons.

Students will also receive a recording of each live lesson, to revisit should they wish to review a specific portion of the lesson.

The first 6 weeks of the course will focus on establishing which problem areas students are facing when completing past papers. After each assessment is completed, the teacher will work through problem areas that arose and provide detailed explanations to help students solve the problems.

The course concludes with a final mock exam, written in test conditions in an online lesson. In the final week, students will receive feedback from the teacher on their final exam and advice on how to prepare for the Cambridge AS Level Mechanics exam.
