AS Level Biology Exam Preparation

About the course

For those students preparing for their AS Level Biology exams, the CambriLearn exam preparation course is extremely helpful. Not only will students revise all of the concepts contained in Biology, but they will also receive extra resources and help in understanding complex concepts.

The full year's worth of recorded Biology live lesson library will allow students to revise every lesson as many times as required to understand each and every concept.

The weekly assignments have been compiled to contain questions similar to those found in past papers, to properly prepare students for their upcoming exam.

Each student will receive personalised feedback on their assignments so that they understand biological theories in greater depth and see where they might need to improve.

Each assignment will be worked through by a teacher in a Q&A session so that students see how to best approach questions in their upcoming exam.

This course will pay special attention to concepts that are known to be challenging.

Some of the challenging AS Level Biology topics covered in the course

• Enzymes: fully grasp the basics of enzymes as well as factors affecting enzymes including substrates and enzyme concentration, and pH and temperature. Also delve into enzyme inhibition, immobilised enzymes, and more.
• Dilutions: understand everything there is to know about dilutions, including the workings of simple and serial dilutions.
• Transport in Animals: work through and understand transport in animals, including the cardiac cycle, heart rates, the Bohr effect, the oxygen cycle and the Bohr shift, and more.
• Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis: delve into RNA and DNA, DNA replication, protein synthesis, DNA and RNA structure, mutation, and more.
• Cell Membranes and Transport: fully understand cell membranes and transport by learning about the structure of cell membranes, transport across cell membranes, and cell signalling.
• Biological Molecules: discover biological molecules in all of their forms, including protein structure, specialised proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, polar and non-polar molecules, condensation reactions, water, hydrolysis reactions, and more.

By the end of this five-week course, each student will feel confident in their understanding of AS Level Biology.

How the course works

Throughout the course, students will be provided with past exam papers designed to practice and reinforce the concepts covered in the Cambridge AS Level Biology exams. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive individualised feedback from the teacher during the online lessons.

Students will also receive a recording of each live lesson, to revisit should they wish to review a specific portion of the lesson.

The first 6 weeks of the course will focus on establishing which problem areas students are facing when completing past papers. After each assessment is completed, the teacher will work through problem areas that arose and provide detailed explanations to help students solve the problems.  

The course concludes with a final mock exam, written in test conditions in an online lesson. In the final week, students will receive feedback from the teacher on their final exam and advice on how to prepare for the Cambridge AS Level Biology exam.
